how to adopt
adoption process
- Meet with an animal that you would potentially like to adopt. Introduce yourself and potential members of the adopting family to the animal to ensure that the animal and individuals get along well.
- Ask the adoption event staff about temperaments, care requirements, history, and behaviors of the animal that you would potentially like to adopt. Please keep in mind that some animals may have unknown histories.
- Once you have selected an animal to adopt, complete an adoption application.
- Review the adoption application and contract with a Save A Life Pet Rescue adoption assistant. The adoption assistant will ask you questions to ensure that you found the right pet to fit your lifestyle.
- If the animal is a good match for you, the next step is to pay an adoption fee (in cash only). Before taking your new pet home, Save A Life Pet Rescue’s adoption assistants will give you your animal’s medical records, pet care information, and a coupon for one free veterinary exam at our recommended clinics.
- Welcome your new pet into your family!

Weekend Adoptions- 12pm-2pm
.The list goes up around 12 p.m. on the weekend. However, keep in mind that the line may start to form before then.

Go to the Oviedo PetSmart on a Saturday or Sunday, sign-in on the adopter's list, and fill out an adoption contract.
We currently do not hold animals for adoption. We do not have a physical location where the pets can be visited as we are a foster-based rescue. We go in order of the names on the list at each adoption event to give everyone a chance to find their perfect companion.

Many of these dogs come from high-kill shelters in rural counties where euthanasia rates are extremely high. We transport them to Central Florida where they have a better chance at being adopted.
We need YOUR HELP!
We urgently need to expand our dog rescue into a larger facility to accommodate the growing number of abandoned dogs in desperate need of shelter, care, and a second chance at life.
